The Girl in the Pot! — Beautiful Decorative Concrete Art

The Girl in the Pot - ConcreteZen.com

There's a girl in my pot!

I, along with a colleague, Sherry Vanderstine of Intelligent Design, am glad to be acquainted with Nicole Santella who works with Brian Seiffert at Concrete Zen because we are intrigued with their art production. Especially these huge planter/pots made largely with reclaimed concrete. We had this little image and the story of the pots. They are poured using a slurry that begins with the dregs from prep water when working on concrete…thus the reclaimed concrete. They are absolutely HUGE…see, there is a girl in there. The pots are sometimes colored in the pour process and sometimes stained after the pour. These huge pots are becoming HUGELY popular. If you want one, be ready to stand in line. So, just after we got ourselves back under control from viewing the tiny picture of the girl in the pot and the cast tables used in the City Theater project along with pots, we saw the first issue of Concrete Cartel magazine. Sherry was all — “Look — there’s that girl in the pot.” But now, we can really see how pretty Nicole is because Concrete Cartel got a better picture. Rather like this one:

I’ve asked for ‘the girl in the pot’ image in a larger size to use in another blog post over at Groove-E-News. If it weren’t for the common denominator of Engrave-A-Crete (for whom Sherry does graphic design and I push the social media marketing), we would have had to hunt a lot harder to find this attractive young woman in concrete.

Nicole is a Woman in Concrete,

  • when she is posed in the planter and
  • when she literally works the concrete to create the art pieces.

Concrete Zen has extensive training and experience with overlays and concrete counter tops (kitchen, vanity and more). Their freestanding art featuring tables, benches and these groovy pots is becoming more popular every day. They are leaders in experimenting with

  • color blends,
  • materials,
  • stains,
  • engraving techniques and
  • employing green practices at every opportunity.
