Decorative concrete finds interest reading how Jim Peterson discussed the future of construction activity in his opinion as part of a recent newsletter to clients. The article was reprinted in Groov-E-News/Engrave-A-Crete blog posted entitled: Jim Peterson of ConcreteNetwork.com asks, “Where Are We Now?”
Actually, in the article, Peterson not only asks where we are now in construction life, but shares his projections for what is ahead.
His opinion meshes with that which Groov-E-News has been saying all along. New construction is probably going to be ‘mia’ in many cases for quite awhile. But, for whatever motivation, people are picking up on remodeling.
Groov-E-News says, “Jim Peterson, President of ConcreteNetwork.com writes for the twice-yearly client newsletter and for a regular email newsletter from ConcreteNetwork.com. His opinions offer guidance that we wanted to be sure our readers had an opportunity to apply. We appreciate Jim’s dedication to concrete and decorative concrete vision.”
Now, this is ME, not Jim going on a rant —
Some folks remodel because they want to enhance the appearance (and hope to enhance the value) of a house that the are trying to sell in a super tough market.
Some folks remodel because they have decided not to invest in more risky property, but yet ‘want something’. So they pretty-up what they have.
Some folks just love their HOME and enjoy making it more pleasant and more modern as well as greener or more comfortable as time goes on.
Regardless of their motivation, they are REMODELING and decorative concrete engraving and staining can have a piece of that action if the people who have the homes crying for beautiful floors, driveways, patios or retaining walls know what is available.
Do you, as a contractor, belong to the local remodeler’s association? Or the local Home Builder’s association? What else are you doing to market the process that you are skilled at delivering? You have the responsibility to make sure the end user knows what decorative concrete engraving and staining can do for them. I’m meeting too many people who are not ‘in’ on the story. With remodeling increasing, you must take steps to get the story about your skill out there. Or be a victim of vinyl flooring and astroturf. The choice is yours.
End of rant.
